Preparation Is Everything
Passing your driving test on the first attempt is a goal every learner driver shares. With the right preparation and mindset, it is absolutely achievable. Here are our top tips from Cambridge Driving Academy instructors.
1. Book Enough Lessons
Most learners need between 40-50 hours of professional instruction combined with private practice. Do not rush into booking your test before you are truly ready.
2. Know Your Test Routes
Familiarise yourself with the roads around the test centre. Cambridge has some tricky junctions and roundabouts that catch learners off guard.
3. Master the Manoeuvres
Practice parallel parking, bay parking, and pulling up on the right until they feel second nature. Your examiner will ask for at least one.
4. Stay Calm Under Pressure
Test day nerves are normal. Deep breathing exercises and a good night of sleep the evening before make a real difference.
5. Check Your Mirrors Regularly
Examiners watch for regular mirror checks. Make it a habit during every lesson so it becomes automatic on test day.
